When it comes to nutrition, we hear nutrition rules being tossed around. Carbs makes you fat. If you eat at night you’ll get fat. If you’re not following a perfect diet plan you’re doomed! Sounds familiar? Here’s the good news, most of those rules are myths. Here at Good Juju, we don’t believe in hard rules when it comes to nutrition. We believe in fueling your body, enjoying food and company and keeping it sustainable. So it’s time to debunk a few of the biggest myth.
Myth #1 Carbs are the root of all fat gain
Carbohydrate aka Carbs are literally your best friend when it comes to training. They are our bodies first choice when it comes to energy during a high intensity exercise. They are what helps you hit that new deadlift weight that you have been struggling with, they help you keep up with the intensity of a hard class and still have energy to laugh over memorably moments after. Cutting them out completely isn’t strength or willpower, its sabotage.

Myth #2 You need a perfect diet to see result
Its is not about perfection, its about balance and consistency. Diet plans are not strict rules to follow but a guide that helps you make the best decision that aids your goals in the moment. Missing a meal prep or grabbing a burger with your friends will not undo weeks of effort. That slight weight gain after a heavy meal does not equal fat gain, it’s just water weight that your body holds after a high carb or high fat diet.

Myth #3 Eating late at night makes you fat
Your body doesn’t have a ticking clock that stores fat when the hand hits 12am. What matters most is the total calories across the day. So if you have not reach your protein intake after your 8pm training, that post workout protein shake is not going to turn into fat.
Nutrition is not about **do's** and **don’ts**. It about understanding the function of each macronutrients, fueling our body with what it needs and still be able to enjoy amazing Malaysian food and good company. Forget the myth and focus on balance, consistency and enjoyment. The strongest version of you isn’t build on restrictions, it’s built on good fuel and Good Juju.
